SS13 Trend Alert: Burberry Prorsum Goes Back to the Future with Metallics

When I hear the name Burberry Prorsum, I immediately conjure up images of its interpretation of the iconic trench coat. By many accounts, its offering of this time-honored piece is the most significant and the only one that truly matters. If I were to be completely honest with myself, I find it extremely difficult to refute this way of thinking.

Burberry is also famed for its consistent adaptation of simplistic yet stylish smart-casual designs, however, its SS13 menswear collection deviated slightly from its expected path. Adding to the sleek silhouettes, minimalist styling, and clean lines, the noted design house strategically chose to incorporate metallic pieces to help add a bold, brilliant element to many of its formal looks.

Hitting the runways late last year, the futuristic metallic trend has been predicted to continue on its upward trajectory, carrying into the AW13 season. Don’t just take my word for it though; esteemed design houses like Burberry, Versace, Lanvin, and DNKY all seem to agree with this style mentality. Look no further than their very own SS13 lines.

My favorite outfit from the Burberry Prorsum Menswear SS13 show is that featured by a model decked out in an electric blue metallic trench coat teamed beautifully with a soft purple metallic button-down shirt, a charcoal two-piece fitted suit, a chocolate brown skinny necktie, and a pair of turquoise-hued wayfarer-style sunglasses to finish — an outfit definitely worthy of any man’s spring wardrobe.
