Every fashion enthusiast knows that when there’s any mention of Vogue or the CFDA, there’s some serious fashion styling going down.

Case in point? The recent CFDA Vogue Fashion Fund Awards, where we were treated to a slew of unconventional looks straddling the fine line between artsy and costume.

Take Zendaya as an example. After her recent menswear-inspired runaway hit, Zendaya hit the CFDA and Vogue event in a look we can only describe as interesting.

Zendaya showed up on the red carpet in a Thakoon pixelated mesh-and-print dress, which she paired with the fuzzy “Dhara” heels from Brother Vellies.

The 19-year-old wore her hair up in a structured bun, showing off an eye-catching pair of dangling earrings.

We have mixed feelings about these shoes. While it does look like the actress ran over an animal with her heels, guests are usually allowed to be more tastefully eccentric at events like these. We’re still not quite sold, though. What do you think?

Grab Zendaya’s Brother Vellies “Dhara” sandal over at Moda Operandi.
