Why Going Military Is the Way to Go for Fall 2013

It’s a good season to be looking like you’ve just enlisted — this is according to Michael Kors, Rebecca Minkoff, Prabal Gurung, and other fashion houses that have toughened up their fall 2013 collections with military-inspired items.

Whether tailored, slouchy, or multicolored, army-inspired jackets are one of the best trends for fall. We’ve got some of our favorites for you below! Also, here are a few other trends you might want to try this season:

1. Makeup and hair — Keep your look clean by sporting a low ponytail or bun. You can do a sleek side or a center part, depending on what works for your face’s shape. Also, it’s all about wine/dark lips, so keep the rest of your face neutral to make the color pop!

2. Prints — If you’re getting dizzy with florals/bright prints left over from spring/summer, take a breather. Fall is all about classic prints: black and white, houndstooth, tweed, and more!

3. Statement outerwear — Keep warm with eye-catching coats as temperatures drop. Update your classic trench with a textured/colored belt, or go wild with some faux fur for that luxurious effect. We’ve got some classic military-inspired outerwear that can stand alone or be layered with your favorite pieces.

Remember that fall is all about experimenting with various patterns and textures, so don’t be afraid to mix and match!
